Environmental & Social Factors

What certifications does this company hold, or what commitments have they made?

What is the life span of the product, and how long can it be in use?

  • Inexpensive parts for repairing grinders, as well as instruction guides, are available through the Baratza website. Don’t Dump it – Fix it!
  • Baratza also offers a reasonably priced repair service for those not able or willing to make repairs themselves.
  • With careful handling and maintenance, this product will bring you many years of quality use.

What happens when the product is no longer being used?

  • When you are done with your item, donate it to your local resale shop.
  • @Getchusomegear has been hooking up baristas (and other coffee pros!) who hold marginalized identities with free coffee gear and educational materials since June 2019 to help them explore their craft. By donating your old, working Baratza grinder to Getchusomegear, you’re helping them make the tools for success in the coffee industry more accessible for their beneficiaries.
  • Recycle cardboard packaging in your curbside bin.
  • Recycle plastic bag packaging where plastic bags are accepted. Many local grocery stores have a bin for these. Plastic packaging can take up to 1000 years to decompose naturally. Unfortunately, they don’t break down completely but instead photo-degrade, becoming microplastics that absorb toxins and continue to pollute the environment.
  • If your item is in poor condition beyond repair, disassemble the product to the best of your ability. Toss the individual pieces that are not electrical into your curbside recycling bin. Check out your local Drop Off Centers for recycling electronics to dispose of the electrical pieces.
  • Steel can take up to 100 years or longer to decompose naturally.
  • Plastics can take 20 – 500 years to decompose naturally.

What grind should I choose for my brewing method?
Whole Bean

Whole bean coffee is unprocessed and unground, preserving peak freshness and flavor until ground to the desired consistency for various brewing methods.

Espresso

Espresso grind is a fine, powdery grind with a texture like granulated sugar, crafted to create high-pressure extraction, resulting in a rich, concentrated shot with bold flavor and velvety crema.

Aeropress

Aeropress grind is a medium-fine to fine grind, similar to table salt or slightly finer, allowing for versatile brewing times and methods, resulting in a clean, rich, and full-flavored cup.

Cone Filter or V60

Cone filter grind is a medium-fine grind with a consistency similar to table salt, designed to optimize water flow and extraction in cone-shaped coffee makers, enhancing clarity and balanced flavor.

Flat Filter or Cold Brew

Flat filter grind is a medium grind with a consistency like sea salt, ideal for flat-bottom drip brewers, promoting even extraction and producing a balanced, smooth cup of coffee.

Chemex or Kalita

Chemex grind is a medium-coarse grind, similar to coarse sand, designed to ensure a slower extraction and clean, bright cup with pronounced clarity and delicate flavors.

French Press or Clever

French press grind is a coarse grind, with a texture like breadcrumbs or coarse sea salt, allowing for full immersion brewing and producing a rich, full-bodied cup with minimal sediment.

How fresh is your coffee?

Our coffee is roasted fresh to order and ships within 24 hours to ensure peak flavor. For optimal taste, we recommend brewing between 4 and 21 days after the roast date—this allows the coffee to degas and fully develop. After that window, it will still taste great for several weeks (or more), especially if stored in a cool, airtight container.

Do you offer subscriptions?

Our subscription products deliver freshly roasted coffee straight to your door on your schedule, with full flexibility to skip, pause, or customize anytime. Choose from curated options or build your own to match your brew style and flavor preferences. See all subscriptions.
